We are always interested in welcoming motivated researchers to join our group. Our research spans electrochemistry, materials science, nanoscience, and quantum physics, with interests in emergent low-dimensional quantum materials, electrochemical systems, coupled ionic/electronic transport, and functional nanoelectronics. If you are interested, feel free to send emails to Mengyu at mengyu.gao[at]bc.edu or send a message through “Leave a Reply” box below (the messages are invisible to the public).
Students in our group receive interdisciplinary training in materials synthesis, advanced characterization (such as electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy), electron transport measurements, and optics (including the development of home-built microscopy and spectroscopy tools). Our research combines both fundamental and applied perspectives, bridging chemistry, quantum physics, and micro-electronics.
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students from chemistry, physics, engineering, and related fields are encouraged to join the group. Please contact Mengyu with your transcript and CV.
Graduate Students
Graduate students already admitted to Boston College are encouraged to contact Mengyu to schedule a meeting and discuss joining the group.
Postdoctoral Scholars
We are particularly interested in postdoctoral researchers with expertise in:
- Operando characterization techniques
- Electrocatalysis and interfacial electrochemsitry
- Electron and ion transport
- 2D materials synthesis
To apply for a postdoc position, please email Mengyu a one-page research statement, CV, and contact information for two or three references.
