Forgiveness

The word forgiveness in the center of a light green blob.

Forgiveness: The action of pardoning and accepting, giving a second chance to self and others.

As with any playground or classroom, mistakes and conflicts happen. Learning to forgive is crucial to a productive and positive classroom community. Forgiving others is a way for children to practice conflict resolution and compassion, and forgiving oneself is an exercise in self-compassion and kindness. Examples of forgiveness in the coding classroom could be a student telling a peer it’s okay after the peer broke apart the student’s KIBO program, or positive self talk after accidentally deleting ones own ScratchJr project.
