Current Research:

Synthesis of redox-switchable cobalt catalysts for the chemoselective copolymerization of lactide, epoxides, and carbon dioxide.

Biography:

Matthew was born in Annapolis, MD, but grew up in rural Thurmont, MD. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he researched for a year with Dr. Thomas Meyer doing studies on water oxidation using ruthenium catalysts. In his last year, he began to work with Dr. Gerald Meyer to synthesize ruthenium catalysts to oxidize iodide for mechanistic studies. He is a member of Alpha Chi Sigma and enjoys cooking, rock climbing and dancing.
