Training the Next Generation of Jewish Day School Teachers

Throughout the years, DevTech has trained thousands of teachers in Jewish Day schools and informal synagogue-based settings across the US, Latin America, and Central America.  Using our four pedagogical pillars, our approach understands the teaching of computer science in early childhood as a new literacy for the 21st century that empowers young learners to develop new ways of thinking to express themselves. While it positions coding as a tool for creative problem-solving, we understand the teaching of coding, robotics, and making as an ethical and humanistic enterprise. CAL offers a pedagogical roadmap that encompasses the cultivation of character along with technical knowledge and skills. Today’s children will have the technical knowledge to change the world. But cultivating strength of character, socio-emotional learning, and a moral compass alongside that knowledge is crucial.
