Compañía Pilgrimage
My first thought on the Pilgrimage immediately takes me back to the chapel at Loyola where St. Ignatius underwent his conversion. We went on our tour earlier in the day on June 21st and spent some time in the room on the other side of the glass looking in. As things were described, I definitely felt something special being discussed, but we moved on and did other things that day. However, when we had a couple of hours free before Fr. Michael Boughton was to say mass in that chapel, I felt a pull to go back there so I went and sat in that room to think more deeply about what had happened there. I journaled and reflected, but also realized, not for the first or last time, how fortunate I was to be where I was in that very spot. I thought about how imperfect I was, but also knew that St. Ignatius was pretty imperfect too, yet he never stopped moving forward and being more. I know he did so many wonderful things in so many different places, but for me, that chapel filled me with joy. At that moment, I challenged myself to be better. I’m sure God was at work because it was a moment of grace and I knew I was blessed to be there.
