- Visibility: It is highly recommended to make sure texts and figures are visible from ~ 4-6 ft. You should generally use 18-point font or larger and stick to only two different sizes: one for titles/section headers and one for paragraphs/data. Also, check the resolution of your images after printing them out. Graphs that look fine on a computer screen may turn out fuzzy in print.
Developing Poster Content:
Your poster should include:
- Short title
- Student’s name
- Collaborator(s) and adviser(s) names, and their department(s)
- Funding sources
- Research objectives
- Scientific background and significance
- Methods
- Results/findings
- Interpretation of results
- Conclusions and directions for future research
- References
Organize content logically, drawing attention to your research problem and conclusions. Maintain clarity, avoid unnecessary jargon, and limit text quantity. Use visuals effectively, as they convey information efficiently. Ensure the poster is comprehensible without the presenter’s guidance. More instructions on developing research posters can be found here.
Abstract Writing Tips:
Abstracts are concise summaries of research projects. Follow these tips:
- Introduction to the field or topic
- Statement of the problem and motivation
- Summary of procedure and approach
- Results and implications
Fit the information within the word limit by condensing each point to a maximum of two sentences. Eliminate unnecessary jargon or non-crucial information. Refer to online examples and resources for guidance on refining your abstract.
