Description of Data Collection:

This program was launched in the Spring of 2019, and thus is just completing its second year. Learning outcomes will be assessed through faculty evaluation of student performance on a comprehensive examination (administered in Action Research I course), and through information on the annual exit survey of all graduating students. Students also complete a mid-point survey, at the end of their second semester, to provide feedback on the program and their preparation.

Review Process:

Comprehensive exams will be distributed across all faculty, who share in the process of evaluating student performance on the exam. In addition, the Master’s Advisory Committee (MAC), which comprises six full-time faculty and the Director of the Practicum Office, reviews student performance on these exams and their satisfaction with the program overall. Exit survey results are reviewed during faculty meetings with all department faculty.

Resulting Program Changes:

Based on feedback from students via (1) interests expressed in the personal statement of their applications; (2) course evaluation comments; and (3) comments made in individual meetings with faculty or the program coordinator, in Spring 2021, a curriculum review was conducted and content related to restorative justice and environmental justice was increased/added across several courses.
