Description of Data Collection:

In process

Review Process:

Faculty will interpret all program assessment evidence annually. Process: Faculty teaching in each Core discipline in the program are being convened (since the fall 2021) to revise the student learning outcomes of each discipline of the Woods Core. This work is still in progress. After this stage of the process is completed, faculty will map the Core in each discipline to the courses in the Woods Core and their student learning outcomes to ascertain how well the courses designated for the Woods Core align to the new WSLOs and the SLOs in each Core discipline. “Mapping courses” will also include a determination of the level to which a student is expected to have mastered the learning outcome in each course and what assessments measure the WSLOs and SLOs in each discipline of the Woods Core. Levels of mastery will include Introductory (I), Developmental (D), Proficient (P). It is expected that some course student learning outcomes may need to be revised as a result of this exercise. During the convenings, faculty will also be asked to identify assessments that they employ in their courses and which may be used to assess WSLOs and SLOs of the particular Woods Core discipline for use in the Woods Core assessments.

The planned Woods Core assessment review will consist of assessing the artifacts identified by faculty as aligned to the WSLOs and the Core Discipline SLO. These will be collected and cleared of all identifying information. Faculty who participate in this project will develop rubrics to evaluate attainment of each WSLO and the Woods Core Discipline SLOs. Faculty will be required to attend a norming session on the application of the rubric before engaging in the assessment of artifacts. Subsequently, faculty will assess the artifacts individually and will convene thereafter to share and discuss the results of the assessments, the data gathered and its interpretation in order to draw conclusions about student attainment of the learning outcomes. Plans for improvements or changes to the Woods Core as a result of this discussion will also be determined. It is expected that there will be documentation reporting on every stage of the Woods Core assessment project.
