Description of Data Collection:

Assessment of student attainment of program student learning outcomes (PSLOs) will be conducted by evaluating assessment artifacts in the program’s required courses where it has been determined that students will attain proficiency in the PSLOs.

Review Process:

Faculty in the program were convened in the Fall 2021 to revise the list of required courses in the program and the program’s student learning outcomes (PSLOs). This work is still in progress. After this is completed, faculty will map the program courses to the new PSLOs in order to ascertain how well the required courses in the program and the program electives align to the new PSLOs. Faculty will be convened for these discussions around course student learning outcomes (CSLOs)-PSLO alignment. “Mapping” these includes an analysis of how the CSLOs align to the PSLOs. It is expected that some CSLOs may need to be revised. During these convenings, faculty will also be asked to identify assessment artifacts they employ in their courses which may be used to assess PSLOs for the program assessment project.

The planned program assessment project will consist of assessment artifacts identified by faculty for assessment of the PSLOs. These will be collected and cleared of all identifying information. Faculty who participate in this project will develop a rubric for the PSLO assessment. They will be required to attend a norming session on the application of the rubric before engaging in the assessment of the artifacts. Subsequently, faculty will assess the artifacts individually and will convene thereafter to share and discuss the results of the assessments, the data gathered and its interpretation in order to draw conclusions about the program’s efficacy. Plans for improvements or changes to the program as a result from this discussion will also be determined. It is expected that there will be documentation reporting on every stage of the program assessment project.
