{"id":60,"date":"2023-12-07T16:17:52","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T16:17:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bc.edu\/spedex\/?page_id=60"},"modified":"2025-07-24T17:34:51","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T17:34:51","slug":"timeline","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bc.edu\/spedexconsultation\/timeline\/","title":{"rendered":"Timeline"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SpedEx Consultation Timeline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>SpedEx is Fast!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>AFTER AN IEP HAS BEEN REJECTED, OR MEDIATION OR A HEARING REQUEST HAS BEEN FILED&#8230;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spedexconsultation.com\/contact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Contact us<\/a>&nbsp;as to learn whether the case may be&nbsp;appropriate for SpedEx Consultation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ask the other party (parent or school) to agree to engage the SpedEx Consultation dispute resolution&nbsp;process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;&nbsp;Parties jointly select 1-3 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spedexconsultation.com\/consultants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SpedEx Consultants<\/a> they will agree on to review the case. &nbsp;Notify the SpedEx administrator&nbsp;of&nbsp;order of preference&nbsp;(first choice may not always be available).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;SpedEx administrator contracts with one Consultant to review the case. Parties are notified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;School administrator facilitates permissions for Consultant to enter school facilities,&nbsp;access&nbsp;student records, observe, and interview appropriate school staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;Consultant then has approximately 30 school days to interview parties, which may include the&nbsp;child, observe, review relevant documents, and prepare a report advising the parties on FAPE&nbsp;and LRE to resolve their dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following delivery of the report to the parties by the SpedEx administrator, parties meet to&nbsp;discuss adopting the Consultant&#8217;s recommendations. If they agree, they then sign an IEP reflecting their agreement&nbsp;(suggested: agreement decision made within 10 days, with placement of the child within 30 days).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IF THEY REJECT THE CONSULTANT&#8217;S RECOMMENDATIONS (OR AT ANY OTHER TIME), THEY MAY PURSUE THEIR DUE PROCESS RIGHTS&#8230;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>8.&nbsp;&nbsp;Regardless of the parties&#8217; decision, the SpedEx Consultant&#8217;s report becomes part of the child&#8217;s permanent school record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9.&nbsp;&nbsp;If the SpedEx Consultant&#8217;s recommendations are adopted, parties may request the Consultant&nbsp;to make a follow-up observation and report within 30 days of placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.&nbsp;At the conclusion of the SpedEx process, the SpedEx administrator contacts both parties to&nbsp;solicit their opinions on the SpedEx process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spedexconsultation.com\/contact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">consult the SpedEx administrator<\/a>&nbsp;at any stage of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cases can begin immediately.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SpedEx Consultation Timeline SpedEx is Fast!
