But even when it is written and defended, there is one last task to be truly finished &#8211; the less glamorous but important step of submitting a copy to the library. The library will make sure it is properly preserved as an academic record and will make it <a href=\"https:\/\/dlib.bc.edu\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/dlib.bc.edu\/\">available to the world for free<\/a>, after an embargo period if need be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get this process started, we have <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.bc.edu\/graduate-etd\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/libguides.bc.edu\/graduate-etd\">eTD@BC<\/a> workshops for graduate students preparing to submit electronic theses and dissertations. This fall, there will be three sessions, one in-person and two virtual, all covering the same material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dates:<br>Tuesday, October 10, noon &#8211; 12:45 pm, on Zoom.<br>Monday, October 16, noon &#8211; 12:45 pm, O\u2019Neill Library 307.<br>Tuesday, October 17, 6:30 &#8211; 7:15 pm, on Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To register, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/libcal.bc.edu\/calendar\/workshops\">https:\/\/libcal.bc.edu\/calendar\/workshops<\/a>. Upon registration for an online workshop, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topics to be covered in this workshop include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The submission website, including a walk-through of the submission process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important decisions and issues, such as eScholarship@BC, embargoes, copyright, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to ensure that a published eTD can be discovered and accessed by others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where to get additional help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students can contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:etd-support@bc.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">etd-support@bc.edu<\/a>&nbsp;with any questions about the workshops.
