Este livro \u00e9 uma s\u00edntese de pesquisas sobre a fam\u00edlia inaciana – do fundador In\u00e1cio de Loyola ao argentino Bergoglio, primeiro papa jesu\u00edta da hist\u00f3ria – desenvolvidas principalmente em torno de tr\u00eas aspectos: o modo de proceder, a obedi\u00eancia e a identidade.<\/p>\n

A divis\u00e3o dos cap\u00edtulos revela op\u00e7\u00f5es ditadas pelo \u00e2mbito da pesquisa e pelas expectativas do leitor. A ordem da narra\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 principalmente cronol\u00f3gica, embora o autor tenha procurado entrela\u00e7ar a narra\u00e7\u00e3o tem\u00e1tica sobretudo no cap\u00edtulo dedicado \u00e0s miss\u00f5es.<\/p>\n

A Companhia de Jesus (Societas Iesu) teve importante papel entre os s\u00e9culos XVI e XVIII: em particular, na instru\u00e7\u00e3o das elites europeias e na intensa obra mission\u00e1ria, da qual \u00e9 s\u00edmbolo a saga do jesu\u00edta Matteo Ricci, na China. Extinta em 1773 e reconstitu\u00edda em 1814, ainda hoje ela representa uma realidade de suma import\u00e2ncia da Igreja.<\/p>\n
