Example #1:<\/strong> A child\u2019s peer tells her that she is wrong for using two hands to scan the KIBO blocks, but she explains that there are many ways to scan correctly.<\/td><\/tr>
Example #2: <\/strong>When creating a program to make KIBO do the Hokey Pokey, a child changes the ending of the dance.<\/td><\/tr>

Teacher Insights on Practicing Open-mindedness<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following excerpts were taken from interviews with teachers who were asked to describe instances in which their preschoolers practiced open-mindedness<\/span>, as well as times in which the teacher personally practiced open-mindedness<\/span> while implementing the Coding as Another Language-KIBO curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First one off the bat is open-mindedness because they\u2019re programming and coding and
you\u2019re like, \u201cHuh? I can barely use excel, what do you want me to do?\u201d So being open-minded and able to learn with your children, sometimes teachers think they have to know everything before they’re teaching and so being able to learn as you go with your children, you have to be open-minded. [I was] very intentional. I would say okay, we have to teach this\u2014I am a student too.<\/p>\n\u2014 Brianna, Pre-K Teacher<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
